Disable alarm??

got the horn comms failure as a consistent code - just comes back when I clear it.... :(

Of course, no idea how old all the original fault codes were...

1 Fault Found:

01134 - Alarm Horn (H12)
49-00 - No Communications

Cccu is a quick job. About £30 to £50 depending on model. The Q version is the worst whilst the AF version the beat. But key fobs not interchangeable between the two versions is if upgrading to AF version you need the key fob with it
Try @A2Steve

The strange thing is that this error code means that the alarm horn (more of a beep than a horn) is broken or disconnected. So I can only assume that when you say that the alarm keeps going off you just mean that it is flashing the hazards, because according to the error the beeper isn’t working.

one sign of a failing CCCU is an alarm that keeps going off for no reason, but if you have not yet fully checked the service flap switch it could be that.
One way to check is to clear the faults on controller 46 (CCCU) then lock the car and wait for the alarm to trigger, unlock the car with the remote and then do another scan of the CCCU. It will list what triggered the alarm.

Thanks, the irony is that I've not actually witnessed the alarm going off....

Its been parked elsewhere and someone had left a message that the alarm was going off day and night!!

I've just disconnected the battery now before we go away for the week, will have to try to sort it properly when back.

Thinking I'll pull the interior rear trim off and disconnect the harness as suggested by Paul - any pointers for this?

Cheers

Pete

If you don’t have a false floor in the boot you can probably get to the beeper by just partially undoing the side trim (drivers side). Better still if you have a cd changer in the side panel because you probably won’t need to undo anything. I am assuming that the suggestion is to disconnect the beeper? But according to VCDS your beeper isn’t working anyway.

Afternoon,

I’ve been reading this with interest. I don't have this problem but always absorbing information should I do get such a problem in the future. It could well be either the CCCU or the alarm module as pointed out by @Birchall and others.

If you was up for a day trip to coalville when you return I would be happy to run a scan again, swap over the alarm module with the one in my A2 and also the CCCU to see if we could get to the bottom of this one. I’m an hour and a half away from you and Unfortunately don’t have any spare alarm modules or CCCUs, I would be just trying to help solve your issue with my known good parts to enable you to purchase the correct part/parts.

My A2 is stripped down for a few jobs I have on the go so no problem at getting to my alarm module.

As you already have VCDS you would be able to programme a replacement CCCU should you need one. As far as the alarm module goes, I’m not sure if it would need programming to the car, someone like @timmus is the person to have a conversation with as he will no doubt have the parts you require and certainly has the expertise in this area.

It’s a bit of a drive I know but Im confident we would get to the bottom of it fairly quickly, if you wanted a longer drive to Timmus Towers I know he would have this issue rectified very quickly as he really is our resident expert.

Kind regards,

Tom

Steve B - I do have a false floor and no cd changer! So I guess that makes things a bit harder...!

@2work - that's a really generous offer, thanks so much. I may well take you up on that. I'm away now for a week but will get back in touch soon.

Kind regards

Pete

I changed my alarm bleeper last week, I have a false floor and no cd changer so I did the following.
Just take out the false floor
Remove the plastic cover from the drivers side false floor rail (it just clips off.
Remove the three bolts that hold in the rear trim panel (the one from the tailgate opening to the floor.
pull off the tailgate seal a little where it hold in the side trim.
Undo the screw that’s is visible when you remove the luggage cover (on the right hand side inside the cut-out where the side of the luggage cover slots in.
the next bit is a bit scary because you will almost certainly break the nylon clip that hold the rearmost part of the side panel in place. You need to pull the dude trim off (the rearmost part. You are trying to get to the area under the fuel flap mechanism.
You will see the little speaker with one connector going in to it.
It is easier to work with if you remove the 13 mm bolt that holds it in place if you are pulling the side trim far enough you will see the bleeper and on the left side of it is the bolt.
best to use a 13mm ring spanner (an open ended spanner will hit the metalwork and only undo the bolt slightly.

once you have the bleeper out you can pull off the connector (Typical Audi connector) I avoid using a screwdriver and leverage. If you press in the tab on the plug this should bend the tab away from the retaining but as I have said, your ZvCDS is telling you that the beeper is either not connected or not working (a previous owner may well have disconnecting it to stop the alarm beeping.

with your VCDS cable you can try the following
Make note of the current code number of the CCCU shown in VCDS. Re.enter this later if you need to return to it.
“Tell” it that an alarm is not fitted by subtracting 8 from the CCCU coding
(For example if your coding on the controller 46 (CCCU) shows as 07883 change it to 07875 (or change it to this code anyway).
that MIGHT disable the alarm without getting to the bleeper.
(you might have to subtract 9 instead of 8 (or use code 07874) to also deactivate the remote setting of the slarm
I have not tried this but it might help.

It is a longshot, but worth a try!!

I will post a link to the Basic VCDS coding for the CCCU shortly. But search for “Basic settings for VCDS” on here.

Thanks for the further input @Birchall , much appreciated. Everything's on pause now until we're back from the lakes. Manic at work at the moment, just (mostly) finished packing up the camper van for an early start tomorrow. Really didn't need another problem! Hoping it'll just sit there with the main battery disconnected and nothing from the backup battery.

Will be going across what has to be my favourite road in the UK tomorrow, hardknott pass. Not sure how the camper will handle it.....

Cheers

So, back from our second week away (mix of camping and cottage near the lizard in Cornwall) and finally had the opportunity to look at our alarm issue (I had disconnected the battery whilst away)

I've adjusted the latch on the service flap and this appears to have done the trick! Though I'd never actually heard the alarm go off before as it was parked in the next street!).

Thanks to all for the input, particularly @2work with the invite up to his (and apologies for not getting back to you on this.... manic work/lifestyle!!).

Kind regards

Pete

Hopefully now the car sees the service flap firmly closed the false alarms have now stopped. I take it that when you lock the car the hazards flash and the led on the drivers door flashes a little then settles down to a flash every 2 or 3 seconds. What I did on my service flap to make the alarm button more positively pressed was to stick a 3mm thick 12mm washer onto the striker square on the service flap using number plate double sided tape. The advantage of this is that when I open the flap it is now pushed open by the switch.
