Door mechanism

Had my drivers side door mech off to clean the micro switch and fix and dry solders. After doing so and putting it all back together the door will no longer lock. Neither with the key manually, with the central locking or with the security lock on the inside of the door. Any suggestions?

When you reassembled the lock, you have to make sure the black cam sits between the 2 top microswitches ( black item top of right picture ). You also need to ensure that the loom if firmly connected to the lock and all the connectors are fully back onto the door controller module.

Does it look like it’s in the wrong place or are you just saying to check it when putting it back together?

Was something working before you did start repairing?

The soldering looks like it did not flow in to the contact surface.......

My solder gun isn’t the best. All locked before, just issues with the micro switch

Something does not look right with the black cam. I think it is not fully seated on the microswitch. Using your picture note the following.
lock.jpeg

The black cam in the blue area does not look fully down. With the lever from the door lock in red in the upper position ( as pictured ) lets the motor in yellow lock and unlock by moving the black cam. If you pull yellow down the cam goes right and locks. If you now try to pull down red it will not move. Pushing it back up red will now move either direction. The white plastic circle upper left is the key manual lock and unlock.

OK so now if the "electrical half" is now operating and the cam is seen and heard to work, the other possibility is when you refitted the electrical half to the mechanical half. Before you join the two together the DOOR CATCH MUST BE IN THE FULLY CLOSED POSITION, the red lever must be fully up. This now engages into the mechanical part of the lock and the external parts mesh together. Refering to your first picture when the upper part rotated anti clockwise door locked and neither release will open the catch, rotated clockwise now the door is unlocked and either release will open the door latch.

That is most likely the issue as when removed the fort was open which would mean it stayed that way whilst disassembled and put back together. Does that sound right to you or would it not separate unless fully closed?

You can split the electrical and mechanical part in either latch position but to rebuild must be fully latched. Hope the red, yellow and blue has helped with the understanding. Cycle the lock a few times to make sure you are happy before refitting it to the car.

I moved all the bits around before putting the case back on so hopefully that will all be in place and correct. I will have it all apart again first thing tomorrow morning. Thanks for all your help

Tried all of the above twice but it’s still not locking. Is it possible that my soldering has upset something?

All sorted, thanks for everyone’s inputs, was the brass coloured bit that I didn’t have in the lock position on the mechanical side

Glad you are sorted now. Does it unlock on the drivers door key and the central locking now?
