door panel kicked

Typical. I've had no problems parking where I do for about a year. I decide to replace the A2 (which I have now) and so want to sell it.

Saturday night, I kind person decides to kick my door and dent it. I could even see the sole mark. Swines.

So I call up Dent Devils who won't come out because it's aluminium (they are useless by the way - took three calls to even get that far). A local dent repairer comes round the next day but is unable to use his specialised tools because there's a reinforcement bar directly on the inside of where he wants to go.

So it looks like a proper bodyshop visit or I reduce the price and sell it with the dent. Nightmare.

Sorry to hear about the damage, theres some idiots about who need their jaw mashed up.

There are a few A2's on ebay being broken, but you may need the door spraying. At least you can still drive your car whilst the replacement door is being sorted, then a quick swap over could be done.

Commiserations Toby!!

If you ever find out which ****** decided to test out their football skills on your car, I am sure that a few club members would happily come over and hold them whilst you try out your football skills on their head!!

I am annoyed just looking at the pictures and can't imagine how ****** *** you are!!

Cheers,

Darren

What were the dent specialists called that attended Audi Driver International last year?

They did some great work on various members A2s so it could be worth seeing if they've a branch near you.

Barstewards lets line them up and take penalties ......

I Think the company that we used and kept busy for
a while at ADi last year was DentMaster they had no problem
working with Aluminium .........

Thanks Wooly. I'll try them.

I just think I'm stuffed because inside the door skin is a bar/reinforcement/support and this prevented the local chap from using his tools. He was very knowledgeable and I'm sure if would have if he could.

But I'll try Dent Masters anyway. One more opinion won't hurt. Otherwise, the bodyshop here we come.

Door panel kicked- dented roof on mine!

I've followed this thread with some interest..... a couple on months ago some yob threw a stone off a motorway bridge (M1 near J30), and it hit my car bang in the middle of the roof. Luckily it must have hit at an angle as it took a chip off the paint, but didn't dent. Minor repair with matt black paint and lacquer kit- seemed ok. (Colour storm with black roof).
Then a couple of weeks ago my g/f and I were off somewhere and entered the M62. Very busy, with lorries everywhere. Within seconds of entering the motorway, we saw an object fly into the air from within a group of lorries, which then bounced onto the roof, nearside, about 6" back from the windscreen and 2" in from the rubber roof gutter. It felt like a brick had hit the car, and it was lucky that it didn't come through the windscreen. We were shocked to say the least. Luckily, whatever it was was covered in an orange rubber substance which rubbed off, but it has dented the roof slightly. A small patch of matt clear lacquer has covered the minor scuff but you can see the dent. It's one of those annoying dents that you see from some angles and in certain light conditions- and it's at eye level.
Given it's proximity to the edge of the roof and the body cage, I guess that a repair without cosmetic filler and a roof respray would be out of the question. I suppose the headlining would have to be removed and I have little faith in things like that being re-instated exactly as they were.
Unless anyone has any suggestions, I'm resigned to owning an otherwise pristine car which now has an annoying dent! I'll try and get a picture downloaded if anyone has a suggestion.

Thanks,

James.

The headliner is remarkably easy to remove - NOT!

You need to remove the A, B and D pillar trims, then the visors and grab handles, the interior lights and then finally, the headliner.

Things do go back together very easily into the same position, so don't worry about that, and apart from a few torx screws (visors and grab handles), everything is clipped in place.

If you do decide to go ahead, best of luck.

Cheers,

Mike

Try a number of different dent removal companies, alot are franchised and so it depends on the experience and the will of the operator. We had a dent near the door lock of our MX5 a few years ago (something fell off the garage roof and hit it coming down). 2 Companies said it couldn't be done becasue of the reinforcement near the lock, the 3rd just removed it (with no bruising as they did it inconjuction with a heater).

Regards

Jonathan

If anyone has a contact number for any dent repairers in the Berks area, pleasae can they let me know.

For some strange reason, I'm struggling to find a good number.

But exclude Dent Devils, they're as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike.
