my a2 has dropped to 48.5 mpg when i was getting at least 51-2 on the same driving and i think it is slower too i put this down to cold weather and me being a bit adventurous but when the wife says she thinks its slower too you begin to wonder...
Has anyoine got any idea where to start?
BTW i would like a set of the security ribes/ torx for several components in the engine bay but my local factors didnt have the right ones even though he allowed to me to try sevral types from TENG and franklin. Do you think they are an audi only tool? surely not
Comments very much appreciated

Do you have petrol, or diesel? I can think of a lot of reasons for why fuel consumption might suddenly start decreasing for both types of engine...

Ive got a 1.4tdi and have the same problem, fuel consumption is down, but feels more nippy and acceleration has defintelty improved.

Colder air=dense air=more oxygen per unit volume=more power=better acceleration hence lower consumption as you are tempted to boot it a little more.

If you want a set of 12-point bits, I can get you a set for £19 and either send then to you, or give them in person when we meet to do the mfsw.

Cheers,

Mike

yes thanks skipton ( and others) i have a fettled tdi 90 from stealth
i wondered about the air density myself but didnt think it was that cold.
Ill get the bits from you when we meet agin mike. They are to get at the air mass meter thingy bob

Yes in theory except modern turbo cars are supposed to adapt to changes in ambient temperature and altitude (both of which impact on air density) in order to provide consistent performance regardless of external conditions (within a reasonable range).

I've known faulty altitude sensors be a cause for poor performance in previous Audis.
