Drive shaft retaining nut query

On doing a tyre change I was alarmed to find the drive shaft retaining nut sitting loose and no sign of the end cap (see pic). I have replaced the (single use) nut with a genuine Audi one (and torqued to 120Nm) but they didn't have the end cap (shown in pic from the other side of the car ). I note from a parts diagram the cap is part no: 8D0407375, available from LLL Parts.
Do I need any other part (the diagram shows an un-numbered ring in front of it)? Is it a simple push fit?

Thanks for any advice.
Chris.

Same function of retaining nut in each image so not missing a cover

One driven by hex internal
Later one a multi hex external superceded design
Thanks very much for that info Weetank2! I had wondered if that was the case, however when the Audi Parts Dept advisor sent me a photo of the later type he stated "there has been no change to these since the vehicle was released".
As my old one was completely undone, what was holding the wheel on I wonder? Was it simply a tight fit of the wheel bearing, or is there a "fail safe" of some sort?
Thanks again,
Chris.

Retaining nut is purely for driveshaft to hub spline, the wing tabs make them a one time use

From factory the çv joint spline is also glue in and can require fair bit of force to extract first time

Road wheel fixes to hub flange which is a press fit into wheel bearing so quite secure

That's a relief. It's my wife's car and I was worried about potential wheel loss.
Thanks again,
Chris.

Do it back up to torque for now, fit new one with fresh tabs later. Im my experience the drive shaft takes 20mt of force to come apart anyway 😆 so mine weren't doing much!!

Thanks Edd! I replaced with a new genuine Audi one but was worried about the potential implications of them coming loose and loosing a wheel.
Kind regards,
Chris.
