Hi the door lock with contact switch for right hand drivers side, we’re would be the best place to buy one. The drive shaft may need replacing so just wondered has anyone heard of anyone who might have one.

Regards Anne

Hi Anne,

Sorry you have had no replies about the switch but this may be because it is not clear exactly what you need, I think you need to elaborate.

By the way this kind of post is best posted in Wanted in the Marketplace.

Hi Anne,
as with Andrew, I'm not entirely clear on the question. However, seeing that you are a new member - for the advice above about the Marketplace, you need to click on your user name at the top of the page, and then click on "Account Upgrades" - this costs 2 quid but gets you access to the club "Car" and "Car Parts" sales lists, and also the "Wanted" section mentioned above where your question will be seen by more folk.

If you could explain what the failure is and how the need for a door lock has been diagnosed - by the sound of things you've got a problem with the driver's door lock, and also (separately?) a driveshaft? For the latter, these can differ from engine model to engine model, so describing what year your car is, which engine it's got and any other salient information would be really helpful once the people who know these cars inside out are reading through posts.

Very best of luck! Robin.

If you look on eBay there are sellers of joints under the name J&R
They do the inner and outer joints complete with clips boot grease etc for under £20 per joint. Quality is good I’ve used these on A2’s many times

Best of luck
Paul

Hi Andy
Does the marketplace get updated for you to view once you have paid the 2.00?

Good morning I am having problems with the driver’s side lock the central locking isn’t working, and we have had the door card off to no avail. Does anyone know where to get the mechanism?
Thank you Anne

Hi Anne,

once you've subscribed for it, the marketplace appears as an extra folio of links at the bottom of the main Forums page every time you access A2oc (below "Laughter Lounge").

Hope that helps, Robin

Good morning Anne. There are two members who dismantle 'end of life' A2s, A2Steve and Clackers, they both advertise in the Market section but, if you send them private messages, they will let you know if they have what you want.
By the way, as far as I know, locks usually stop working because there are breaks in the soldered connections.
Good luck.

Hi Anne,
Welcome to the club. The problems that you are are having are not unusual, it would help if we knew a bit more about your car, what engine, age and so on.
I have no hesitation in recommending @timmus on here, he is the person best able to sort the problem [In my opinion] He is over near Lancaster,
not that far.
Best of luck.

Hi Anne,

I have worked out the mysterious part number in your thread that has now been closed. Yes, it is a typo the 38 is the wrong way round and the correct part number is 8Z2837016D.

I suggest you edit your post in the Marketplace for this part and include this part number.

I reiterate, make an arrangement to visit Tom (Timmus), you are not far away from Lancaster.

Hope this helps.

Andy

Thank you for the recommendations, folks.

I've fixed a lot of central locking systems recently, including a deadlocked door. One of the A2s was also from Huddersfield.
I always enjoy restoring an A2 to factory-fresh functionality. :)

Cheers,

Tom
