Drivers side window not working

Hi, can i ask for some advice in relation to this thread please. Our passenger window has never worked from drivers side in 2 years of ownership. Also now the drivers side is Intermittent, and requires firm depress to work. Any ideas to remedy these please
Sorry I have not read all the posts.

This happened to me. All I did was disconnect the battery for 5min and it fixed it for me.
Many thanks for quick reply. Unfortunately, no joy for us. Hopefully it lasts through the great British Summer and until next service. Will look at again nearer the time.

There could be different problems: switch, window motor, cables.
I would start with window switches.

A spill can damage the switch, if someone spilled some drink on there or something, tend to get dust and general dust/bits build up in there, had mine sticky cause Mrs. spilled some fizzy drink on there and cleaning without taking door card is pretty much impossible, though from design it does not normally get liquid inside I don't think.

Otherwise my second bet would be the window motor, both are relatively easy to replace when you remove the door card, with few connectors and screws/clips.

Test the switch with a multi meter for continuity when pressed between pins, if that all works I'd find a replacement motor/assembly for the window.

Could be a few things. Window switch is on it's way out, connection issues, might be battery related or even ccu.
As mentioned above disconnect the battery negativ for few minutes, then see if that helped anything. Be aware it will restart the radio coding, so you'll need to know the 4 digit code for that, this can be found in sound system manual.
If nothing, then it's not battery related, so you gotta look into changing the window switches or motors, market place where probably you can find them.
Happened to me with the rear window, all I did was to remove the b pillar cover and unplug the connector, your issue sounds like you need new switches.

If you got vag401, odb2 or vcds you can scan the ccu, really recommended, go to: Common/Engine/Central Module (no.46), then scan ccu. This might give you old fault codes, so scan the ccu, name note of the fault codes, delete fault codes, then scan again.

Hi all, I'd like to thank you for a helpful thread. My resolution to a passenger window that was stuck open was to disconnect the battery for five or so minutes and reconnect. Fortunate! I did try trickle charging the battery overnight first, however, as the car had sat for a couple of weeks without having been used.

Once the battery was reconnected, the radio was fine and stored memory. However, the time and date had reset, so I adjusted them (by pulling the knob on the left of the binnacle and twisting right, in turn) and the one touch function needed to be re-instated, which is done for each window by raising then holding the switch in the 'raise' position for a few seconds -- let's say up to ten.

Hi, apologies,as I forgot to update here. We had to replace the double driver button set in the end. This fixed both driver and passenger window issue.
