iv'e driven neither, and would currently be happy to buy either, is there much difference to the driving experience? i own other cars but have not experienced either a2 yet.

I'm more than my happy with the driving experience of my 1.4petrol,nippy,good economy pulls well even at motorway speeds.

Have not driven the diesel version but do drive a Corsa Diesel CDTI(56plate) for work so I'm aware of what modern small diesels drive like and to be honest I don't think I'm missing out.

I'm aware the diesels can be chipped up to considerable more BHP but either ones a good choice.

ps.Selling mine due to emigration.

Hi Andy,

This is a long standing topic and at the risk of repeating things, I have provided you with a link to one of the many threads:-

Car ownership is a personal experience and to that end only you can make up your own mind at the end of the day. Don't forget that the TDI comes as a 75 or later 90 horsepower and don't discount the 1.6 fsi either.

If possible try all variants before you buy.

Good luck,

Darren

Corsa is a heavy and rather less aerodynamic car:

Cd: 0.32
CO2 emissions: 124g/km
MPG Combined: 61.4
Engine: 1248cc Diesel
Transmission : 5 Speed Manual
BHP: 75/170 NM
Top Speed: 102mph
0.62mph: 13.5
Kerb Weight: 1044 kg

A2 1.2 TDI:

Cd: 0.25
CO2 emissions: 81g/km
MPG Combined: 95.3
Engine: 1191cc Diesel
Transmission : 5 Speed Manual/Tiptronic/ECO
BHP: 61/140 NM
Top Speed: 106mph
0.62mph: 14
Kerb Weight: 960 kg

But 0-60mph is not real world motoring. More important is 40-70mph joining a motorway or overtaking ability and this is where the 1.4 TDI (75PS/195NM - so more torque and still less weight than Corsa diesel) is better than it's non turbo Petrol counterpart. The 1.6FSI has plenty of fans as well.
