Early Car - CD Changer Question

This might be a silly question but I'll ask it anyway. I have an early car with the Chorus 1 radio but no CD changer. Does anybody know whether the wiring was in place in these cars to connect a boot mounted CD changer? Or would that part of the wiring loom only go into the car if this option was specified at build?
Thought that those members who have stripped down early (pre Can Bus) cars might be able to confirm position?

Hi,
cars which left the factory without the boot mounted CD changer won't have the cable running to the back of the car.
The retrofit "kit" would comprise of the cable, bracket, CD changer and alternate boot trim panel.

To mount the bracket you need hex captive nuts to fix into the pre-existing holes in the body to allow the bracket to be bolted in place. There is a discussion on these here:

Regarding the head unit though, if you have a generation 1 "Chorus" head unit, this doesn't have the capability to support an external CD changer. You will need to swap this for the more advanced "Concert" unit to control the external audio source. See this guide on the different units:

Many thanks for that information. Answers the question totally and for me the system will be staying as is. I'll live without the functionality on the basis I am preserving the 'period charm'.
