does anyone know how much one of these cost as just been quoted 150+vat and that does not include fitting, does this seem ok

Hi Georgie
I don't have any exact prices but think the EGR valve should cost around £150 including vat. There are many less expensive (and more likely) things which can go wrong with the EGR system so don't pay for expensive bits unless you'r happy the diagnosis is accurate.

Cheers Spike

sounds right I have been quoted £190 with fitting for the same part.
I assume your engine management light is on and thats the diagnosis that the garage gave you, a new egr valve.
I seem to be suffering the same as I say price as quoted above.

Hi, just got my egr valve done at a vw & audi specialist part £114.76 labour £40.00 vat £ 27.08 total £181.84. Diagnosis done by 3 different garages. Had to return stitch ( 1.4se ) 3 times after fitting as management light kept coming back on. Garage contacted audi who advised there may be a blockage in the pipes. Garage checked this ( no charge ) and fingers crossed no more problems.

about 150 pounds audi quoted for the part for me. our light came on and the rac man said it was the egr valve (you can get them on ebay for £80 and they are genuine vw ones).

he disconnected it and and reset all the ecu codes and its been fine ever since.

maybe it needs a clean?

I see there have been a few posts about this EGR valve. My engine light came on as well due to this (but hasn't come back on since I cleared the code). Through searching I can't find anywhere showing where the valve is - or how to disconnect it or clean it? Mine is a 1.4 petrol.

Cheers.

I have an 'egr valve fault implausible signal' on my printout - i did have an engine light on, but it's gone off now after reset.

I have rough idle and kangaroo petrol when pulling away in traffic (mind, i've not driven a petrol for a long time - perhaps thats my lack of clutch control!). So no engine light but missing. Is this the EGR valve? Can you clean the 'pipes'? I also have a knocking noise the garage thought was a broken exhaust bracket - could that be connected?

Phil
