Hello,

I was wondering if any of you had come across fault code 2108 on a 1.4 tdi Se. The emisson warning light is also on. This started as an intermit fault but now is on all the time. Do you know if I ok to keep driving it. Need to go to London for a wedding so help is appreciated. :)

VAG test done

Went to Audi specialist in the end to get it checked out. Fault has come back as been exhaust actuator in the end. Not had a price yet for this part.

Hi cozza
Was your original 2108 fault code correct ?
I read your first post and checeked all the ususal fault code databases but could find nothing on this.

Oringinal fault code was wrong

Hi Spike
Went to VAG specialist to get another diagnostic scan done. Came back as 19559 - Intake manifold air control actuator. Seems like its going to be an expensive fix this. Does anyone know if you have to get this part from Audi is it fitted on anyother cars?

Cheers

Hi Cozza
The actuator works a flap in the intake manifold and all it does is limit the airflow into the cylinders when the engine is switched off. The engine then comes to rest smoothly rather than shuddering to a stop on the compression stroke. The flap 'fails safe' so the engine should not be starved of air when running. If your engine comes to rest with a bit of a thud and you can live with it then its safe to run the engine. Aparently, early Golf diesels did not have the flap system and many owners complained because they thought the engine was about to seize up.
The flap is vaccuum operated so if possible, your mechanic should check the manifold flap is working freely plus the pipework and wiring connection to the solenoid valve before replacing parts

Cheers Spike
