EML and code 16485

Finally I have got a A2 TDi myself, it’s a 04 Colour storm.
During my drive home last night from the seller, EML came on, after scanning I got code 16485. Car drive as it should, no misfire or judder.
Want to ask some opinion here.
Should I check for cracked hose first or replace the MAF and see how it goes?
Which brand of MAF should I go for?

Thank you very much!

I would first check the wiring to the MAF sensor for chaffing, moisture, connection etc, then perhaps look at the air filter to see if it needs changing as part of a general service. I would always advise to go with genuine parts for sensors (i think they were Bosch originally). One of our parts suppliers could have a used MAF sensor available which may help diagnose the problem and prove a cheaper option.

If the MAF sensor is at fault it would be noticeable through driving though. Lack of power, hesitation and juddering are common symptoms.

What did you use to scan the car?
VCDS Is the recommended software, this could be an old fault code but could also be one that was cleared prior to sale only for it to reappear a few miles later, VCDS will tell you when this appeared & subsequently when or if it was cleared prior to purchase.
Hope that helps
Keith.

The funny problem is, the EML came on after a few miles after I drove off seller's home. So I really don't know if there is lack of power, hesitation. It drives normal to me.
