Hi All

Engine light has come on, run VCDS and have the following faults, cleared intake manifold flap fault but the engine coolant temp sensor fault remains, is this as simple as to just replace the sensor ?

TIA

When I had the above error code, replacing the sensor did solve the issue, but I would also concur with @Edwrai as well to have a look at the wiring when you get a chance.

Ok, I have removed the cable carrier bracket, then noticed water on top of gearbox and level down to min, I then went to loosen the M6 bolt that holds the sensor Housing and water dripped out !, im guessing this should not happen, do these sensor housings fail ?

The wire look fine, is there a way checking that a white hasn’t broKen in the loom ?

photo below, its upside down, can’t seem to change it !

Yes there is there are 2 sensors in your sensor a g2 and a g62 one is for the dash g2 and the g62 is for the ecu, simply turn the ignition on and use a voltage meter between the g62 pine and see if you have voltage from memory it quite a low voltage something like 1 or 2 volts.

Ok, so looseing the bolt will cause water to escape from the seal between the housing and the engine block but I had water visible on top of the gearbox before loosening the bolt, do the o ring seals fail ?

I really can’t see how to remove the plug to test for voltage withe the limited room available, is it advised to remove the sensor first from the housing and then remove the plug ?

TIA
