engine fan noise

Hi guys

I havent had my A2 very long and havent got a proper manual so wondered if anyone out there knows what I am experiencing.

Just lately I have been hearing an engine noise like a fan under the bonnet when the ignition is off. It seems to come on quite randomly but I think it may come on possibly to warm the engine when the temperature dips. Does that sounds really stupid?

Has my A2 tdi have an engine compartment heater ?

The sound you are describing is probably the Webasto Diesel Heater depending on the model year (was later replaced by an electric one).

It usually comes on 5 degrees or lower, and runs on after the engine is switched off.
