Engine pan fixings

That's probably not the technical term Audi uses but I guess everyone knows what I mean.

My under engine belly pan made a bid for freedom while at speed on the motorway. Horrible noise experience & end of belly pan.

New one bought, together with 16 piece fixing kit. Thing is that all fixings are male, none of the recipient halves are included. I guess the assumption is that these remain on the car.

So I need some help knowing what goes where
There are 10 black Star headed threaded fixings. See photo.

And 8 slotheaded silver fixings with a very limited thread having a 'lock' detail. See photo

What do these fit onto (what's the female counter part to each fixing) and is there a diagram that shows where each belongs?

thanks

Once again a fixing kit advertised for an A2 is NOT for an A2. The 8 silver slot heads not used. The torx bolts are used and fit around the edges. 2 further nuts secure the long legs that reach up inside the wheel arch liners. If you have your new under tray you will see that there are 3 fixings along the rear edge, three down each side 3 at the front and the nut either side so you will be short of bolts so suggest fitting the 3 front 3 rear and 2 each side.

This is the view from the engine of the under tray. The fixing fit from underneath. As you do not have enough fit them to the locations with the black circles....

The 2 nuts fit under the 2 vertical "arms" on the picture.

If you refer to this thread it will explain in more detail. Was also the source of the picture I modified to show locations..

Strange: it was ordered and bought from a main Audi dealer

The link to Paul's 3D offering I do not have permission to view... where does this come in please?
That'll be a Marketplace thread. To access the Market, click your user name in the top menu bar, select Account Upgrades, there's a one-off £2 fee via PayPal and you should be all set. You'll get the Market as an option on the top menu bar and you'll be able to follow any links to threads or posts that go there.

Paul's pieces are to replace the captive fittings that the bolts fit into along the rear edge. Yes the front fasteners through the bumper were the twist type but they tend to fall out hence most have been replaced with the torx bolts.

It is also worth pointing out that for people who are working with the plastic undertrays and wheel-arch inners, that after nearly 20 years, in a lot of cases the original fitting holes are sometimes wrecked. I've found Ebay shops selling generic packs of VAG undertray fixings, plastic push-rivets and the like to be a real boon in getting some of the bits to sit back securely where they were installed originally before DIY and mechanics in a hurry started using 2-inch woodscrews and the like to put repair jobs back together.
