European Road Trip 2025-Interested? (Provisional itinerary now posted)

I'd be interested. I've been wanting to do a trip to Germany for a while so it'd be nice to go with people who know how to fix the car if it breaks down lol and travel arrangements ofc

Ok, I'm thinking next May/June. Have to allow 2 weeks I'd say. So we could do the Nurburgring, a whistle stop at the factory at Neckarsulm, Berchtesgarten and the Grossglockner Pass ending up in Zalaegerszeg in Hungary and a visit to Sopron and Lake Balaton. I can arrange accommodation. What do we think?

I am not participating, but maybe our trajectories will intersect somewhere. I have one important note: If you want to go through some high altitude passes they are for 100% opened from the beginning of June, but in May some may be still closed because of the snow 😉

Dependent on timing I would be interested. I reckon I could only squeeze in a week as my annual leave is not too forgiving.

I'll watch with interest to see how this progresses!

To keep interest up with mention of Nürburgring and with Misha charoudin's excellent(!) lap in an Audi A2 recently I thought I give it a go... virtually of course!

Sub 10 min in 1.4 petrol ⛽

Having driven the Nurburgring for real it's bloody intense! @Cenick kindly let me have a go in his splendid Z4. Amazing experience. We stayed in the hotel next to the F1 starting grid.

That sounds a great idea and happy to do anything I can to help turn it into a social. I know that Gary and I have first week of June booked off. Could potentially design it so that people can join for shorter time or the full shebang?
It appears we have the beginnings of a road trip-just into double figures. Obviously if people can't make the whole journey there is nothing stopping them tuning back at any point.

Yes I can second that, I've visited a few times over the years in various cars and I can say some sessions on the PS4 did help before visiting and driving it for real. Memorable times driving a few different cars including Rent4Ring's Suzuki Swift Sport ZC31S, not yet in an A2 but I'd say if I make it across on this trip I'd be tempted to rent something from Rent4Ring again if they're still renting?

I'd be interested in tagging along on the Hungarian section of the trip (since I'm already here) or maybe meeting up with the convoy in Austria depending on how the timing works out.

Just to update everyone. I've put together what I think is a workable route for people who can only do a week. Starting on sunday 1 June, It takes in Nurbergring, Neckarsulm and the Glosslocker pass before turning back, arriving back in the UK on Saturday 7June. Chris is now checking how doable it looks and looking at a route onto Hungary and back for those who can do two weeks.
Once we have an outline route, we will publish that so people can start to book cross channel/north sea crossings and accomodation.
We will then do a bit more research into each 'leg' to get an idea of loo stops, fuel, places to get food and take photos

Nice one Teresa. From the Grossglockner to Sopron, Hungary is about 5-6 hours drive, Zalaegerszeg another two hours on. Loads of options for places to stay. I use the Booking.com app when on the road although be good if we could all stay in the same place but may be difficult.
