Exhaust Control System warning light

The yellow warning light that looks like an engine from its side, apperantly the Exhaust Control System warning light, came on yesterday. I rang my Audi dealer and was asked if the engine was misbehaving but it wasn't so I got an appointment on the 3rd of May to find the cause. Drove to work with the light on. When I left work in the afternoon the light never came on and it hasn't since. Has anybody had the same experience? My concern is that Audi won't find what was wrong since the light is no longer on. Luckily the car is on warranty until 2007-05.

Thanks

Yes i have had the same thing happen to me. When mine came on it also had the EPC light on and both reset them selves. The engine light can do this and it takes a few miles to sort itself out. taking to the dealer wont help as they could not find what caused mine. This happended in feb and not done it since now thats tempting fate I guess

This is the second time as far as I know. I was told by the dealer from whom I bought the car that the car had this light on earlier but they managed to reset it without changing the faulty device that might have caused it to come on. They told me they never change devices the first time it shows a fault if the light can be reset without coming back instantly. Since this is the second time it might be cause for a replacement if they can locate from the memory what device was faulty the second time, which I like cbr1011 doubt.

Thanks

I had this happen last year. My fault diagnosis showed a misfire on all cylinders. They reset it and it hasn't happened since. One suggestion was some dodgy fuel...

Anyone with a TDI that has experienced this? From the replies I recon it is more common with the petrol engines.

As expected, the dealer couldn't detect any fault from the memory.
They made a note about it in the car history for future use if the light comes on again.
