Hi, can anyone tell me if the front of the exhaust pipe that attaches to the down pipe manifold is supposed to have a gasket of some sort? If so, would it be a material or paste seal that goes onto it.
There is normally a metal gasket in between the manifold and the start of the exhaust. The type and shape varies from model to model, but they all have a metal gasket.
Thanks mike, i know now why i must be loosing power and i can here some kind of hissing at the front of the car. Is this an audi dealer part, and is it a difficult job to do?
Yes, it's a dealer only part and costs less than a fiver, but fitting really needs a full vehicle lift to get up to the manifold area - it might be possible to do the job from above, but I've only ever seen it done from below.
