Extended use of the additional heater?

Hi,
it would be nice if the additional heater (on a TDI car) could be started by a timer or remotely to warm the interior up in cold mornings. Has anybody tried that? Btw, does a 2004 1.4 TDI have a diesel driven additional heater or is it another kind of solution?

Hi Mats
I'm fairly sure the 2004 TDi has an electric element to supplement the cabin heater in cold weather and this would drain the battery, even if it was possible to activate it remotely. For older cars with the diesel powered heater, Webasto do a kit to run it for pre warming the engine coolant circuit.
For a less elegant option, see link for ways of installing a mains powered fan heater

One of the easiest ways to get the heater by remote would be to get a different alarm fitted. Some alarms have relays in them to control things like lights, heaters or keep the fan on for a set time after the cars been shut off or remotley start the engine. I would go and speak to a good alarm speacilst and ask them what control over the heater they could give you.

Or you could try to retro fit a heater time i had one in my 06 VW caddy van so you could see if you could get the controller for that and install
