Has anyone had experience with these faults:

18947 P1639 035
Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch -C- Circuit
Range/Performance
sporadic

17809 P1401 035
EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid Valve -N18-
Short circuit to Ground (GND) <-- part on order

16955 P0571 035
Brake Switch (A) Circuit
Malfunction

Audi ordered the wrong part and now I have to wait another few weeks [2][2][2]

Audi is really beginning to piss me off!

I left the car at Wimbledon this morning and arranged to pick it up 2 hours later. 6 hours on however, the car is still in their workshop!

The first time I rang just before I was about to go and collect it they told me they were 30 minutes behind schedule and so would give me a ring when it's ready. Soon after, they called to explain that the part which they ordered had been installed but a 'new' fault had appeared and quoted: EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid Valve no. 17809.

Impressed I was not, since that's the reason why I left the car there in the first place! (Only the EGR problem remained after they reset the fault memory last time I was there). I told them this and they agreed I was right so again they'd get back to me once it was resolved.

Over an hour later I was getting impatient and rang them again. This time they were waiting for a different technician/mechanic to have a look at it because the other plonkers couldn't work it out and he would be ready in 15 minutes.

They just got in touch again, at 3pm to say the guy is only just now going to have a look at it, 2 hours since the last call!!! And better still, they wanted me to pay for all the extra time that the car spent in there!! As if £200 wasn't already enough to pay to replace a small valve!

I tell you, I don't know where to laugh or cry with these clowns!

Finally got a call at 4pm to say the car was fixed and ready for pickup with no extra charge for the prolongued work - which I wasn't prepared to pay for anyway but at least it saved some aggrevation. So all seemed fine... for a while. When I set off in the car after I returned home what did I see? 2 yellow warning lights flashing at me! I couldn't believe it. I had just paid £200 and they hadn't fixed it :(

So I went straight back to see what they had to say... nothing too convincing from where I was standing. But at least the Service manager came out to assist and, realising my frustration he offered to book the car in again and arrange for a courtesy A2 until they fixed it.

I'm still not entirely impressed but they did redeem themselves a bit at the end. Hopefully it won't take too long this time and I'll get my car back in full working order, otherwise I might as well be owning an Alfa Romeo.

Oh well, apologies for the [15]

No apologies needed, IMHO. It's another one of those freak-circus dealership stories that seem to pop up on this forum more and more.

Makes you wonder how we can like a car so much that we (almost) take all its faults and horrible dealers for granted...

Hope your problem gets sorted, in a timely and polite fashion.

It does happen. Doesn't make you feel any better, but it does happen toother people.

You can't answer why it does!

Good luck and hope it gets sorted soon so you can carry on enjoying your A2.

Your well wishes brought my car back and in full working order [8D]

In the end Im just glad to get my car back so I didn't bother going back to Audi for a refund on the EGR valve which, when replaced with a new one didn't solve the original problem.

While the work was being done though I did get a chance to courtesy 'test' drive a 1.6 FSi colour storm and a 1.4TDi (75) Sport. The engine on the colour storm was more fruity than my 1.4 but the clutch on the one they gave me was knackered, not to mention the off-key paintwork. The diesel on the other hand was brilliant and very entertaining after about 2000rpm when the turbo decided to kick in. Compared to mine, up a hill its a world apart but on the motorway its a bit noisy and lacking at high speed but still very capable. The sport trim was also something I'd go for over my SE if I had the choice again. The 225 tyres, lower ride and 17"s are great fun when attacking corners and the seats are fab. I preferred the slightly choppier ride as well, but what impressed me most of all was the fuel consumption even when really pegging it. I think the worst I got was 32mpg when flooring it around town, marvellous!

amp,
Glad your car's sorted and you got a chance to experience the TDi. I can relate to all your comments above.

Nope, it is the 1.6 T-Spirit. Nippy thing (when you keep the revs up). It's an OK car, nothing brill, just OK.
