OK now you know the servicing was "patchy" you will need to check / replace all the other service items that have probably been missed.

Start with ALL the fluids i.e. oil, screen wash, brake / clutch and gearbox. Also check the power steering fluid. Then things like the cam belt and water pump, thermostat and temp sensor with the coolant change. Air oil and fuel filters etc.

Then it is the routine of checking the battery, alternator and belt including tensioners / idlers. All bulbs and fuses, brakes, tyres and importantly the remote keys and replacing their batteries. You do have at least 2 fully working keys????

Well VERY good idea to have at LEAST 2 fully working keys. There is a common defect on the A2 that can easily lock the keys in the car.

Obviously finances permitting, but please get a second key even if it is a non remote or even a plastic valet key.

Looking at eurocar parts, they have a few variations.
Prefer to use a Bosch part..
Can anyone advise which one for both a 2001 and 2003 Tdi75?
Many thanks.

I thought they were all the same on tdi. They coke in two sizes, one for with the frame and one for without the frame I believe. It's obvious come refitting! I'd imagine the quality difference are minimal, Mann bosch etc should all be fine

Frame, frameless, standard and activated carbon / charcoal filters are available.

The important thing is it is regularly replaced.

This is the Bosch one i use.

It's the middle of the Bosch range as they do a paper one which is just white, this Carbon one, then a far more expensive Activated Carbon one which for my mind is a waste of money.

This is for the original A2 factory design btw which uses the plastic frame and cost around £12 from memory 👍

Mine also looked like that when I got it out. Hadn't been changed in years. It is a bit of a fiddle to replace so well done.

Audi specify 2 years, but if you park below trees or in a dusty or dirty air area consider replacing annually. Also replace if water inside the cabin.

This is another reason the maximum servicing interval for long life is 20 000 miles or 2 years whichever the soonest.
