First Audi, not a clue!

Is there any way of confirming the trim colour on the vin plate or anything?

The options list, either in the service book or in the boot, can tell a lot about the specifications, including the colour trim.

Or a VIN can be entered into the myAudi Mobile app to get some information:

Re the headlights question - if you have a look down the back of the headlamp casing with the bonnet removed - is the reason for muck in there due to absence of the clip-on lid at the back? - if not present that would obviously allow ingress of insects and other bits of debris as well as moisture.

I have just spotted a brand new fuse box cover in platinum grey on Ebay for £18.99 if you wanted a spare as these are so hard to find now.

James.

Hi Andrew

I've had a dig around and can't find the @depronman 3d printed clips that I had so I'll just buy a set from Paul and ask him to send to you directly.

Thanks

Steve

I just bought a new fuse cover in Dark gray at the local vw dealer for arround 9 £ here in Denmark. The parts might be avalible from Classic carparts. Some german Stockholder that vw use.

I also just did the headlight job to remote dirt and dead flies, for some reason the old owner forgot to put on the back cover again. Be very carefull cleaning the crome insert. You will damage it easily with a peace of cloth rubbed to fast or hard. And use no chemicals like glass cleaner.

It might be an idea to tuck a few silica desiccant pouches into the light when you resealable it to avoid condensation.

If your headlight is of the splittable type (you'd see some of the spring clips that hold the two parts together when you take off the bonnet), you could remove the headlight, using a Torx 30 screwdriver on the two screws - one on top, one between the lamp and service flap -and split the unit to remove those leaves. Otherwise, you could remove the bulb holder from the back of the unit and use the nozzle of a vacuum cleaner to try to suck them out.

Gents, how exactly did you separate the lens from the headlight body, please?

I thought I'd have a go with my old NS unit, to clean the inside up a bit to make a better spare. I have removed the two spring clips (it looks like there may once have been more?) but nothing else wants to move. Twisting a large flat screwdriver blade where I can see a gap between the two halves is just eating into the plastic edge of the body. Thanks for any light you can shed (pardon the pun!) ;)

It sounds like you have the later type that are not splittable and will require heat as mentioned above.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I just arrived at the 'non-splittable' conclusion from the content of those posts too. The heat or bake procedures both look to be above my pay-grade! Not worth the effort just for a spare, that was good enough to be on the car when I got it anyway.

Hi Andrew nice looking car . There is a guy fairly near you in Chichester breaking a Black A2 see eBay item 222792241965. I rang him and spoke about some wheels . Might be a good local source for bits .
