Fitting a refurbished wiper…

If I understand correctly, they should have been always on lube and the plastic part is meant to preserve that lube?

I guess I'll try to do something myself. I am a big brown stinky pile of a welder but I've got the machine, i can grind a nut to make it a cone so like Paul wrote, it's doable.
Maybe I'll think of something to implement a set of bearings so I don't have to return to that part ever again.
I just hoped someone with experience would suggest an easier workaround.
Thanks, guys, for your replies. :)

Oh, by the way.
If someone asks again.
If I understood correctly while looking at the wiper, the whole wiper consists of the arm, or should i say, two of them like in an Ikarus bus, two extenders fitted into the arms that end in the place where the blade holder mounts, the blade holder and the blade itself.
So the extenders should be universal for both hand drives (I know it sounds ridiculous but I don't know how to say it otherwise) because they don't look like they require any difference for the side the wiper is facing. It just may be a problem to remove the old ones and stuff the new/refurbished ones.
Anyway, if I screw up (as usually), I can always buy one from a second hand market.
The car from which I bought the trunk lid still has the wiper (if it still is there).

Not as universal as you think and a bit more to it.

Your best options would be a good used one anywhere on the continent or a new one from Audi Tradition.

Well, a new one will probably cost a fortune so a used one is the best option at least while I do some magic with mine. :)
That is if I don't find a good one because I doubt an average driver took more care of the wiper than just changing its blade.

I had this exact problem at the weekend.
The nuts came off fine, as did the arms (eventually) with a decent puller and some hammer tapping on the arms.
BUT when I was putting the smaller nut back in it seemed very tight all the way down the thread. So it was difficult to tell when it was actually getting tight. I think I was using more than 10nm torque from the start.
Consequently I cracked the end off my arm. I'm contemplating taking the end off my old arm, and swapping over. But the spring is powerful and nasty looking the remove easily.
I'm picking up another aero arm on Friday instead.

And I called every single ad in my hometown and heard the same answr: Sold...
Have to scope the remaining 92 ads. :D
The problem is that if the junkyard has it, I'll buy a cat in the bag because I won't be able to look at it prior to buying.

you can send me the wiper arm to have it professionally re bushed and new stainless steel pins fitted, followed by a complete rebdown and repaint in satin 2K black. The cost is £35 for a hook are or £45 for an aero arm which includes a 3D printed cover. I don't have any left hand drive wiper arm so cannot offer the usual exchange service, but more than happy to refurbish your own and retur it to you in France. Shipping cost will need to be determined.
I've done a few for members in Sweden and Denmark over the last few years

Cheers,
Paul
how long do they take

no problem Graham, I was simply point out that they are all checked prior to leaving me as I had an issue with a member some 5 years ago who clearly over torqued the arm and cracked the cast alloy part, then tried it on with me that I supplied a cracked arm. He eventually came clean when I asked how tight he torqued it too, the answer was basically stripped and half a turn back

Cheers,
Paul
Hi, Do you still refurb wiper arms? My wiper arm is well worn and starting to tap the windscreen over bumps.
Thanks
Michael

Hi,
Picture of very worn wiperarm.
2005 1.4 tdi SE so I think it’s an aero blade.

It is indeed an aero arm
So the refurbished aero arm is £45
Postage £7
I need the old aero arm back and there is a £50 deposit which is returned once I get the old arm back
Or you can send your arm first and when I get it I will send out the refurbished arm. If you do this then ignore the deposit

PayPal friends and family to [email protected]
Leave your name and address and aero arm in the PayPal note

I have a couple in stock at the moment so I say be quick as they are fast moving this time of the year

Cheers. Paul

Morning
Sounds good.
Seem to remember reading somewhere on the forum you’re in the St Anne’s area. I’ve got a mate in Blackpool who could drop off my old wiper arm and collect a replacement on Monday if that’s the case?
I’d do the payment in advance obviously
