Fitting Sat Nav in dash ? Possible?

I have looked around the site and cant find any advice on fitting a sat nav system into an A2. I have the Audi Symphony unit in my A2 1.4 TDi (02 model).

I have noticed the square shape on the top of the dash above the sound unit and wondered if it could be opened and a sat nav system could be placed within it ?

I would appreciate if anyone has fitted a sat nav to their A2 dash let me know which system you purchased and how you fitted it.

probably for a taxameter.

Yes, you can open it up, there's an inch or so underneath it, but it's part of the dash itself and therefore difficult if not impossible to replace should you need to.

what unit did you have in mind?

On the german site, there are some people that have fitted a navi in there

The navi from GPstar is specially made for that

here is a picture after its been fitted

Havank, my business german doesn't get me much past hatten sie ein reserviung fir me bitte, so I am struggling here but I get the jist

the reason it's "not cheap" -
- you have all the maps pre-loaded for Europe, 30 countries on a 2GB SDcard
- it starts automatically
- it's integrated into the car's systems
- TMC is included (which is essential in Germany these days)
- it's got a nice 4" widescreen.

If this justifies the price, along with the integration, then fair enough. You ain't going to get it pinched quite so easily...
ah yes, there was also a court decision recently in Germany which basically said "if it's too cheap, you're a fence" and fined the guy who bought a dodgy RNS-E.

sorry do not agree with the price

just bought the garmin nuvi 660 with tmc and bluetooth and MP3 (easy to hook the mobile phone on) and costs me not more then Gbp245 and also has a 4 inch screen and has all the maps off the world preloaded cept for the states

no if the Gpstar want to compete it has to get a better price tag
