Flasher unit DIY repair (part 8Z0 941 509 B)

Good evening all,

I also seem to have the hazard problem. I have a new battery fully charged but I randomly seem to have hazards come on, both while the car is sat but occasionally while driving.

I have tried to check the switch and the relay (behind the stereo) but nothing stops the flashing other than disconnecting the battery,

Do I need a new relay 8Z0941509B or is there anything else I can try please?

Any advice please?
If disconnecting the switch dont work i would get a replacement relay to be honest i have had one fail on the indicator side but its all built into one unit anyway new they are around £60 but our breakers often have good used units at much more attractive prices

Do the hazards work correctly when operating the switch, are the indicators okay?
It may be that the hazards are coming on due to a faulty alarm, do you know if the system works correctly and does the siren go off?
Best to check this before replacing the relay.

I'm with @Catnip64 sounds more alarm related than flasher relay.
Mac.

Hi all, thanks for replies, really appreciated.

The hazards and indicators work ok. I’m not sure it has an alarm, Ive never heard it.

I have plugged in a odb reader, is there another way to check the alarm?

A scan (vag specific) will tell you what's triggered the alarm.
