Heater plug light has started flashing on the dash plugged my obd2 reader in but its not connecting to the car this is a new reader because my other one was doing the same so its obviously the car.Any ideas. Thanks Tony.

First thing to check is are all three brake lights working. If all working correctly then the brake light switch may be sticking or arcing producing a strange signal the computer can not read correctly. Replace bulbs as required and get a good quality OEM brake light switch. Not difficult to change just watch for the sharp edges in the area. If you need further info on changing the switch search on here or just ask.

Thanks just gone out to check brake lights and all are working and as i was sat in the car the flashing light went out.?

TBH generic obd readers are not much help due to the way the A2 reports faults. You really need VCDS for scans.

Even though the lights are working could still be the brake switch on the top of the brake pedal. Could be as you are driving along the brake lights are flashing. The braking system expects to see the car slow when the brakes are on. This in turn confuses the ABS and ESP systems. Bulb out also confuses the system due to the power useage of the lights being lower than expected. Simplified explanation.

A long shot, but the OBD socket has a fuse and it is worth checking that.
Probably not the case but if your scanners don’t register anything it might be the cause.

I think it is fuse 28.
