Flat Battery - How do I

Hi,
Sorry if this question has been asked before, am I being stupid ???
The other day my darling son decided to hoover our beloved A2 and what a thorough job he did - using a cigarette lighter hoover - without starting the car :( he commented that radio turned itself off and the hoover was not picking up well :mad::mad:
So yes we have all worked it out
I tried to open the boot more than a dozen times with the key fob
The open door button did nothing
Eventually the key fob DID open the boot and I was able to get her jump started and all is well but I am concerned about what would have happened if the key fob had not opened the boot, how do you get to the battery to perform the jump start ?

Along top of the trim next to the screen line, there is a little hideaway handle which stores away neatly inside the trim. Lift it up and pull to release the boot.

Cheers

You need 2 people for this and a small child will be handy!

Person 1 (child? or smaaler of the 2) should get into the car and climb into the back (open the drivers door with the key in the outside lock).

They need to take the key with them. Kneeling on the off-side rear seat and facing the back, they need to look along the line of where the trim panel meets the glass of the rear screen (preferably with the roller cover opened (i.e. retracted)) to find the plastic plug (about 1 inch square). This has a small slot in it which you need to shove the key and lever the plug out from the trim.

With the plug out, person 1 needs to slowly but firmly pull it whilst person 2 on the outside needs to lift the boot when the pulling on the plug releases the latch.

Cheers,

Mike

huh, the audi dealer showed me this slot at the back incase anything ever went wrong, but I didn't know it was so complex a procedure! Plus the one if the sunroof ever went up the blinker..!

he was so lardy dar that if the battery went flat or had any problems opening the car that one just place the key into this slot and away you go, car would be opened - he made it sound so easy!!!

Hi A2 Golden Miler,

A tip to aid climbing into the back, is to push the driver's seat fully back and pull the passenger's seat fully forward to increase the gap between the seat backs.

I see said the blind man

Thanks all,
I can now see what is expected of me, however navigating my bulk through the obstancle course could be fun, will try a dry run tomorrow when I am confident nobody is around to be able to create a "you-tube" all time classic

:D:D:D:D

That's why I recommend you use a tame child!

Or, you could reach around and open the back door from the inside and just climb in there.

Cheers,

Mike

I'm not a big person (5'7) and did that once when I mistakenly closed the hatch with the battery disconnected... [red face] . As instructed, once I got the rear driver side door opened, I folded down the rear seat and climbed into the boot, released the boot and push opened the hatch from inside. So you can actually do it with just one person.

You can do it with one person, but it'd be fitting and just to have the little person who flattened the battery do all the clambering around wouldn't it?!!

Cheers,

Mike
