Forged light alloys WANTED

I'm restoring/saving a 2001 A2 1.4 petrol. The wheels (steel) are very badly rusted and having joined the forum and learned of the original forged alloy wheels would like to get a set. Care is proving more costly to restore, so far I have bought new coil springs all round new shock absorbers, radiator and battery. Slowly getting there but I think cars like the A2 should be saved.
I'm in Ireland and am of course happy to pay the carriage but may need wheels put on a pallet,

The original 15" forged alloys that base spec A2s were sold with in the UK are not easy to find, not least because the burnished finish has left them rather vulnerable to corrosion over the years. Pepperpots, as supplied new with early A3s, are far easier to find and many A2 owners have adopted them as an aesthetically pleasing upgrade.

If you haven't already done so, you need to upgrade your membership, which will cost a one-off fee of £2. To do this, click on your user name in the menu bar across the top of the site, and select 'Account upgrades'. You will then have access to the market section of the forum, where you can not only place a 'wanted' ad but see what wheels are listed for sale.

Because GB currently has a fractious relationship with the EU, shipping to Ireland is unlikely to be the easy process it once was. It would probably be more straightforward if you were able to come over and collect your wheels in person.

Good luck with your search.

Perhaps another option would be to get the criminal underworld to ship them over as a part load along with a tonne of contraband sausages?

I've got a full set of very good ones here available, more than happy to pallet them up for you, Paisley freight do some good prices on transporting wheels too. Otherwise, its a quick jump on the ferry to Holyhead and nip to mine in Colwyn Bay (about 40mins in the car), turn round and get the next ferry home! If you brought a stacker truck with you, I could meet you in Holyhead and then you could be a foot passenger...loads of options!

There are some A1 15" alloys near me as well but they are 6.5J and I'm not sure if they would fit. I believe the originals were 5J
