Hi folks,

I've updated the forum software to the latest version. See here for details of this version change:

Please let me know if you spot any issues.

Thanks.

Great work in the background Ben,

I’ve just read through the fixes this update brings. Wow that’s some list.

Thanks again,

Tom

Afternoon Ben @ben,

I have noticed a small niggle the last couple of days.

When I add a picture, regardless where the flashing curser is, the image goes the the very start of the post I’m compiling.

The work around I have been using is delete the image from its incorrect location (not completely removing it) then move the cursor to the intended place in the post then tap on the insert (full image). This works but a little frustrating if adding multiple images. Hope that makes sense. Happy to explain further if need be.

Not played on the MacBook yet, only on the up to date iPhone.

Kind regards,

Tom

Good Afternoon Ben,

I know my iPad2 is getting old, probably about 8 years but it works fine, battery still reasonable and there is no reason why I should not continue to use to use it on the forum except for Apple's despicable policy of not allowing me iOS updates these last few years which as now made my iPad generally unusable on many sites and now the forum has succumbed.

The problem concerns composing a post, since it last update the editor bar has not worked but I have got round it by using 'Attach files' to add pictures but with the last update post composition simply does not work. It would be useful to use the iPad now and again but I am not that worried but the point is XenForo should do something for their money and fix the problem.

I am leaving Apple, disgusted by their harmful environmental policy of being forced to scrap good machines and buy new expensive machines - I hope they go bust.

Me again Ben,

Just to add to my post earlier, another anomaly since the recent works is when editing a hyperlink, the new red text link seems to go the very start of the post. The hyperlink that’s being edited remains in the correct place but not updated.

Again this on my inferior mobile Apple product.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hello again Ben,

Just tried adding pictures to my OEM thread, this time using the laptop (OSX) and it’s just as frustrating as using the iPhone. When adding a picture it goes to the very start of the post and not where the cursor is. I have to continually try to relocate the picture manually before it lands where I want it. This glitchy feature has never presented itself in the past.

I’m surprised that no one else has reported it unless I’m having a bad few days in the IT Department.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom & Andy

I will investigate this issue with the Forum vendor.

Just tried adding this on my Mac OS latop, and it was added in the correct location. Will try on iPhone too...

Evening Ben,

Thanks for the initial feedback very strange why I’m having issues here when you’re able to do it easily first time. This is with my up to date iPhone XR (Google Chrome) and to date MacBooks (Safari).

Edit, just seen your addition as I posted the above message. That really isn’t a very helpful response from the Vendor. It was working fine for me prior to the update so it must be something they can solve as they have introduced it.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Ben,

Thanks for your interest but not to worry, in my case I am running on the now very old IOS 9.3.5.

Strange one just now, on my iPad I clicked 'Reply' and as as normal nothing happened, gave up and moved to my MS machine and my post was already started with the invisible reply on the ipad!

Before I chase the vendor on this one, please can you clear your browser cache and retry?

Hi Ben,

I know all 3 MacBooks were cleared as I do this regularly. I do clear the phone but am on this more frequently. Just cleared it so here goes.

Hopefully a picture will now appear below this sentence:

Nope straight to the top still.

Kind regards,

Tom

OK. That seems to be the bug reported in my link above indeed. Let's see what the vendor comes back with. I offered them my best software product company response (as I know the challenges of supporting/testing all browser combinations).

If by clear cache you mean 'Remove history and website data' under Safari in Settings, I did that and no joy except it jumps to the top of the page/thread now when I click 'Reply' which it did not do before.

Me being a pain again with something new. This is on my new MS Surface 7+ Professional bought to replace the iPad while using Edge.

Quite often it seems when opening a forum thread if I touch an avatar on the left while scrolling with my left thumb the further details pop up happens, okay my fault, but the pop up will not then go away as normal by touching a blank bit, rather annoying as I can't read the post. I get round it by scrolling up and touching another avatar and this pop up cancels the stuck pop up but this one behaves and goes away when requested and then scroll back down to read the post.

Don't know if is related to the software update but just lately I'm getting a lot of placeholders instead of images - avatars, media gallery strip etc. but also attachments in peoples' posts.

Just tried clicking on my own avatar to see the image and I get this message :

This site can’t provide a secure connection

a2oc.ams3.digitaloceanspaces.com sent an invalid response.

The URL is https://a2oc.ams3.digitaloceanspaces.com/data/avatars/o/16/16253.jpg?1557078282

I'm in Chrome on Win10 if it makes any difference. On my other PCs in a different location (one very old running Firefox the other also Win10 and Chrome) it seems to be OK.

Not noticed anything like that myself. Have you tried clearing out the cache, then rebooting? I have just clicked on your link and get a picture of the rear quarters of 4 A2s. Running Firefox on Win 10. I am not a Chrome user as many of my sites do not play nice with Chrome as they are built for Edge.

I've not seen the secure connection warning before. We do host all our images on digitalocean now. It could be a glitch in the certificates that they use. However, looking at them, they are valid until December 2021.

If it continues to happen, please let me know and I'll reach out to the vendor.

PS - I can see your profile Pic OK. Chrome on a Mac.

Cache cleared and system rebooted, Ctrl-F5 to reload pages, no difference. Could the issue be with my ISP here perhaps (Virgin Media) ? Or possibly the router ? (but I've not changed anything in there for years). If not then I'd appreciate you asking them about this Ben. Many thanks :)
