French cleat storage system

Had some great fun making up all these different boxes et cetera for a French cleat storage system I’ve made up three boards on the walls one for the lathe section of the workshop one for the mechanical side and one for the woodwork side just finish the woodwork side one first..made using 18mm birch ply finished with a flooring wax/oil ..The possibilities are endless I highly recommend it ..I had a load of maple strips you just run a 45° angle on the wall strips ..and glue the reverse onto your box;s and they sit there nicely move them where you want that’s the beauty of a system.. I bought a Makita air pin gun I used stainless pins made it so much easier assembling the boxes glue and pin ..

Workshop porn 😍 That looks fantastic Paul, ingenious yet so simple, as all the best things are. I would love to have the woodworking skills to do something like that, not to mention having all the tools to put in the various modules :D

Thanks folks it’s an enjoyable process having a couple of days off .,then I will start on the small one over the lathe ..a Japanese guy came up with this clever draw system in the small pic below .so this is part of my next project for the French cleat wall you slide out and it tilts down so you can see what’s in 😍 magic idea 💡

Morning Paul,

This all looks amazing. So organised and a million miles away from what I have to put up with right now.

Do keep adding pictures of your progress as this is the sort of thing to give me inspiration for when I build the new storage area and the current garage is converted into an annex.

Total garage envy!

Kind regards,

Tom

Thanks tom all the ideas someone else has done before YouTube has been a valuable source for this project an 8ft x4ft sheet Of nicely finished birch ply 18mm is only about £70 all the boxes you can see on that wall came from one sheet and I’ve got enough for another two or three leftover..👍
