Fried Connects2?

Noticed some background interference on mp3 tracks from the Connects2 so took the stereo out and spotted this loose wire:

.
While trying to remove the connector blocks at the back to work out where it had come loose from managed to brush the loose wire over the connections in the pale blue front CD block. There was a little spark and a pop. Everything on stereo still works but now it doesn't recognize the Connects2 as the CD changer.

Can't see any sort of fuse inside the Connects2 or along the wiring so safe to assume I've fried the thing dead?

It says CD - all the regular CD stuff works fine. Usually you'd press the CD button twice and it would change to CCD and play the Connects2 as if it was the CD changer but that's the bit that's not working anymore.

Most of these adapters require a good earth. So if the earth is missing ( broken ) then it will not work.

Unfortunately if this is not the issue then internal damage probable to the unit especially as the head unit is fully functional apart from no longer recognising the connects unit.

How exactly is the module connected into the Audi wiring? Is there any power taken from the fuse box and that fuse checked with a METER?

Two earths and both good. Fuse on head unit and in main box both intact. Connects into the head unit with these connectors:

I think the snap, crackle and pop was the circuit getting toasted (no intervening fuse) so time to find another one.

Hind sight is fantastic.....

The adapter looms are OK and no bare wires anywhere? No fuse spur from the fuse box needed for the connects?

The days have long since gone now where you could pop into your local high street and there was an electrical repair shop. Today due to lack of skills / costs everything is no sent to landfill. Even if you opened up the unit to see what has blown the chance of being able to obtain the component then replace it is quite low.....

So what is the loose wire for in your 1st picture?

Loose wire presumably prevents the background interference noise - probably knocked it loose during komfortblinker fitting a few weeks ago as that's when background noise started. No inline fuse and all powered by head unit. Was second hand and a few years old - hey ho, live and learn.
