Just a wee note to the wise. My traction control light and my ABS warning light both decided to come on at the same shortly before my front pads needed changing. changed the pads no change to the lights and the 3 beeps. Contacted the local stealer who advised me to bring it in and run it through the diagnostics at a mere £78 +vat this was the only way to identify the problem apparently .They also advised that the ABS light was on a latch and would need reset at a further cost of £40 after the offending sensor was replaced at a cost of £40 per sensor plus fitting (£80 per hour I believe) nice price so far. I managed to track down 2 new front sensors £66 total changed both together doddle of a job .Remove caliper, remove shield ,pry out sensor disconnect and renew and viola ABS light out traction control light out no more probs for £66. Dealer price £158 plus 2 hours labour at £160 plus vat near on £400 .Just thought I would share this with you guys see ya Davy:eek::(

Absolutely, it's often the way that if you are handy with the spanners, you can save a pretty penny over Audis prices.

The biggest killer is their labour costs - the parts alone are often quite reasonable.

With a workshop manual to guide you and possibly with a diagnostic tool, you can save a hefty sum and become a lot more familiar with the workings of your car.

Cheers,

Mike

labour charges

Labour charges like you say are a killer, a wee bit of confidence, a decent manual ,a forum like this (which I have to say is excellent) for a bit of combined knowledge for research and back-up and your 3/4 of the way there .Some of the probs are out of reach but at least you can limit the financial damage by using the head see ya Davy:)
