This what you are looking for ? Can post tomorrow

What is the height of the rubber stops in that Monroe PK012 dust cover kit?

The rubber stops in the Monroe PK012 kit look about 85mm high, which is considerably more than the correct rubber stops that an Audi A2 with standard ride height would normally use.

Also, the Monroe PK012 kit is made for a huge number of cars, including a 1983 Alfa-Romeo, a 1968 BMW, a 1980 Fiat, and a 1995 Lancia. Monroe is clearly not carefully matching it to any specific model, but selling a generic product.

About 85mm

Sachs 900105 would be a better choice for the Audi A2 with standard ride height than the Monroe PK012. The bump stops on the Monroe are made for much heavier cars such as the BMW 5 and 7 series...hence why the Monroe bump stops look so bulky.

The Sachs 900105 is only sold for VAG group cars, so is less generic than the Monroe.

The Sachs 900105 is available from amazon.de for 21.16 Euros (about £18.06) including shipping to the UK.

Thanks Carlston!

I am bit confused now sorry, are you saying the meyle or Sachs I should get?
Thanks

It depends what OEM part numbers you want to match.

The bellows is the easiest choice, because that is the same whatever height rubber buffers you want. As you can see below, the bellows have OEM part number 6N0413175A.

Bellows 6N0413175A
96N0 413 175 Abellows2

The rubber buffers is not such an easy choice. Do you go for 55mm buffers, do you go for 70mm buffers, or do you go for something a little higher still such as 85mm buffers.

VW Polo MK4 buffers 6N0412303A 6Q0412301 6Q0412301A
36N0 412 303 A65mm height, rubber stop for shock absorber, standard ride height2PR-G09,G10
(3)6Q0 412 30180mm height, rubber stop for shock absorber
for models with heavy duty suspension, increased ride height
2PR-G11
(3)6Q0 412 301 A56mm height, rubber stop for shock absorber
for sports suspension, lowered ride height
2PR-G12

The problem with purchasing a kit, is that the bellows with OEM part number 6N0413175A and the buffers that you want are often not available. In this case, maybe purchase the bellows and buffers separately. Sometimes you can find a kit with the correct bellows and similar buffers to what you want. Sometimes you can find a kit with the correct bellows but the wrong buffers, yet with a lower price than buying the bellows separately.

The Audi A2 with sports suspension apparently uses 80mm to 84mm front buffers, at least going by various listings on autodoc. This is surprising, as usually cars that use sports/lowered suspension also use front buffers with less height, not more.

Maybe try the 80mm front buffers? Some listings for the buffers with OEM part number 6N0412303A call them 84mm, although Topran call them 80mm front buffers. If you are finding that your front suspension is regularly bottoming with 80mm front buffers, then next time you rebuild the front suspension maybe try some front buffers with less height.

Unless you are regularly bottoming out your front suspension, you won't notice any difference whether you fit 55mm or 85mm front buffers, or somewhere in between.

Thanks for fantastic write up! My car is SE spec with OSS so most likely standard hight.

Here are all four buffers for the Audi A2 front shock absorbers that are listed on 7zap.

Sachs website recommendations are for the 900 104 kit for my car reg???

The Sachs 900 104 kit is listed in the Sachs parts catalogue for all models of Audi A2, including the 1.2TDI. Now the 1.2TDI should use a buffer with a height of 56mm, and the buffer in the Sachs 900 104 kit is 85mm. Sachs clearly just wants to sell one kit for all Audi A2 models.

Sachs parts catalogue

Only VAG group cars are listed for the Sachs 900 104, the Sachs 900 105, and the Sachs 900 136 buffers and bellows kits, which is better than purchasing a kit that is being sold for cars that include non-VAG cars such as Alfa-Romeo, BMW, Peugeot, Citroen, Renault, etc.

The buffers in the Sachs 900 104 kit are 85mm in height, which is too much if you want to maximise the amount of front suspension travel.

Sachs 900 136 kit (70mm buffers 1K0412303B and bellows 6N0413175A)

The following kits appear to be identical to the Sachs 900 136 kit.
KYB 910059 (70mm buffers)

Ridex 919D0013 (70mm buffers)
Imperium 50589 (70mm buffers)
Meyle 1006400009 (70mm buffers)
Optimal AK-735175 (70mm buffers)
Sachs 900 136 (70mm buffers)
The 70mm buffers should be ideal for a standard ride height Audi A2, and the bellows have OEM part number 6N0413175A which is the same OEM part number as the OEM Audi A2 bellows.

I’m just about to renew the front suspension on my A2 (TDI SE 75 bhp) with Sachs parts.

I messaged ZF Sachs about the length of the bump stops in the 900-104 and 900-105 kits, and they replied with the following information.

The kit 900-104 Height of the bump stop without the dust cover is 85mm

The kit 900-105 height of the bump stop without the dust cover is 55mm

If that’s of any help.

Gavin.

That's just the information that we need.

The problem with the Sachs kits is that they don't list the OEM part numbers that they are being sold to replace, which makes it difficult to accurately assess the height of the buffers.

I agree with the Sachs 900 104 kit having 85mm buffers, and the Sachs 900 105 kit having 55mm buffers.

The Meyle 100 640 0008 kit looks identical to the Sachs 900 105 kit, ie. both have the same 55mm buffers and the same bellows.

However, the kits that I listed in my previous post use 70mm buffers which is closer to the OEM Audi A2 standard ride height buffers.

You might also want to take a look at the Sachs 900 136 kit. It looks like this kit uses the same bellows as the 900 104 and 900 105 kits, but with 70mm buffers.

Sachs have confirmed by email that the Sachs 900 136 kit has 70mm buffers.

The below diagram might show the dimensions of the buffers and bellows in the Sachs 900 136 kit. It's actually a diagram of a First Line kit, but I suspect that they are the same parts, or at least share the same dimensions as the Sachs 900 136 part number is referenced in the First Line's listing.
