Front Sidelight Not Workin

My frint right sidelight hasn't been working for a while now. Last weekend i replaced the bulb with a spare I had. Sadly it still doesn't work.

Is there anything to check on this? Are the sidelights fused individually? There's some slight discolouration around the clear bulb holder that can be seen from the outside too, not sure if this is significant.

It may well be that the new bulb is also duff as it's been carted around in the boot for months. Just looking for a few more ideas before i have to tear into the front of the car again.

Hi agent006
Not sure if this is part of your problem but Skipton pointed out a while ago the sidelight bulbs should be rated at 3w. The more common 5w versions run too hot and cause the discolouration of the corrugated plastic shroud.
Things to look at -
The wire contacts on the bulb can get bent out of shape so they don't complete the circuit in the bulb holder.
Check there is power at the bulb holder
Check the bulb for continuity with a multimeter as a broken element is not easy to spot

Cheers Spike
