FSI - Changing Fuel Pressure Regulator

Hi, I've done a search and although I can find references to changing the Fuel Pressure Regulator on an A2 1.6FSI, I haven't found any instructions.

I've bought a second hand one as it doesn't seem as though new ones are available any more and wondered if anyone had changed one and if its just a case of taking the old one off and putting the new one on?

It looks like the pipe that goes into the Mass Air Flow Sensor is in the way, but that is also throwing up an error and I am going to give it a clean, I'm assuming that once I have that off, access is fairly easy?

Any pointers very gratefully received. Thank you

Can't help with fitting, but wondering what the symptoms were?

Hi Mac, thank you. It was not wanting to start. Then starting but cutting out after a few yards and refusing to restart (had to get towed back from about half a mile away). VCDS showing Fuel Pressure Regulator and Mass Air Flow. When she does start it smells v rich. Thought I would try those two issues as cheaper than my next bit which I guess would be injectors?
Just trying to do bits that I can on the drive as had to cancell MOT because it wouldn't work.
Thank you

You need a copy of Elsawin, Teresa!

Thank you RAB. I think she has had one of those in the past by the garage. This is the bit I've got. It sits on the left of the engine when you are looking at it, towards the back.

This thread has a good picture of the part, but couldn't see any guidance on changing it. Don't want to set myself alight!

Post in thread 'A2 1.6 FSI Very rich mixture??' https://www.a2oc.net/community/index.php?threads/a2-1-6-fsi-very-rich-mixture.38516/post-339841
From here: https://7zap.com/en/catalog/cars/Au...--/10314->10358/14711|---fuel+rail+fuel+pump/

that looks more like the fuel pressure regulator, rather than the pump.

Instruction for the the regulator attached.

There are blocks in vcds that give you pressure in the injector rail, but sounds like you're on the button already.
Good luck 🤞
Mac.

Thanks Mac. I'm only just learning about measuring blocks and what they should show. Been trying to find a list. If I can get her to the warmed up stage, it tends to drive lovely. So the issue seems to be (at the risk of showing my age) - when whatever the modern equivalent of the choke is out!
Will give it a go this weekend t and see how I get on. Thanks again
