FSI & E10 Fuel

Absolutely not. I simply hope the high octane stuff remains in circulation for a long, long time to come lest I:
  • Remove the fence and have the A2 as a garden centre piece
  • Convert to electric
?

Don't forget, those of you who have the ProBoost fitted, will still need to use 98/99 E5,
The 10% alcohol in the E10 fuel is incompatible with some materials used in the FSI engine.
Nothing to do with the octane rating,
Mac.

Gosh... it's hard to believe my little A2 is almost 20 years old. It still looks stylish and new, so kudos to the designers! Just a shame that the mechanical engineers didn't foresee this switch to E10, as it's been on the cards since before these cars were built. :-(

Correct, nobody SHOULD be using standard unleaded in the FSI. But I bet 80% of them are being run on standard unleaded so this will hopefully enforce the need for the premium super grades of unleaded as the ONLY choice for the FSI. Note also E10 has a short lifespan before it breaks down so not to be stored in the tank long term.
