FSi high pressure fuel reading

Hi,

Just left my car with the garage - last night the car suddenly had what felt like a significant power reduction, and then started to struggle to maintain any engine speed, no matter what position the throttle was in. It really felt like the engine just wasn't getting the correct fuel mix. Took the car to the garage this morning, and the fault code gave a 'high pressure fuel reading'?? I booked the car in for further investigation, but within 5 minutes of driving away it became impossible to drive!

The initial thoughts are a failed mechanical fuel pump? Has anyone had this occur on their car? How much should it cost to replace?

The car is a 2003 model, 74000 miles, always serviced on time etc.......

Any advice would be welcomed.

Hi i recently had my fsi just not start and run properly-it misfired and would not even idle.it also caughed and banged back through the air filter.my independant had it for 5 weeks and eventually fixed it with new injectors.he was amased that even using full vag com and full bosch equipment at no point did it spot the injectors.
good luck in fixing your car mike

ps if you need a high pressure fuel pump i know he has a new one as it was tried on my car along with new egr/lambda/air flow.
