Fsi Oil Filter location

Decided to treat the FSi to some fresh oil and filter. Dropped the undertray Ok and located the sump plug, nice and easy to reach. Eventually found the oil filter and it looks to be in about the most awkward location I've ever seen !

It looks like I need to remove the shield on the exhaust manifold held on by 2 easily reachable bolts on top but 2 awkward bolts down the front.

Has anyone else changed the oil filter on an FSi ? Just trying to make sure I'm not missing a trick and that there is an easier way !

Thanks

Yes, I have. No you haven't missed anything, it's very heavily secluded, and if mine was anything to go by, bloody tight too ! A chain wrench seems to make access possible, but I wouldn't want to be starting to try to change it without being reasonably equipped. Another perfectly good example of 'dismally bad' German Engineering - the sort of thing that Audi seems to do so well.

Thanks, can't seem to get my chain wrench on. Looks like a better option will be to get a socket on the hexagon on the end of the filter. I guess there will be a special tool for this but I've not seen one yet. Not sure if there is enough space for a conventional socket and wrench.

Cheers
