FSI. Should it be smooth running at 30mph in 4th?

Remaining 3 coil packs changed for Audi ones after 2nd failed 3 weeks ago. Only Code since (in 600 miles) has been related to a missfire (after being forced to have 95 RON) which I did not feel.

Still have "flat spot" although some times I make it up the hill (A303 north of Wylye) in 5th doing 70mph without power loss, so its intermittant. I will now check weather condition so see if there is a pattern.

I am interested in your progress as i have been having the same issue with my FSI. Last night while driving up a hill from cold the battery light came on and the engine just died. I scanned the codes and got P0420, P0401, P0304, P0343 & P0191. The car is still up the road as i can't move it now. Having a recovery company take it to my local Audi dealer who said they will diagnose it in the next 48 hours. I'll let you know what they come back with on mine in case you have the same problem.

2 weeks ago i had coil pack in cylinder 2 replaced which made a big difference but then started noticing the same issue you explain in the original post.

Well i just had a recovery company go to pick up mine and they told me my cambelt has snapped! Don't think is has helped you diagnose you issue, sorry.

2000 miles after coils packs fitted, first new EML, Misfire on cylinders 3 & 4 detected, cleared message and reappeared next day. Still has “power limiter” at 70mph. Any further suggestions?

Injectors? wiring for coils?

UPDATE. Now getting misfire on Cly 3 & 4. I'm considering changing MAF, is it an easy job? (where is it in engine bay, any tips etc?)

Jungle,
Just been reading this, and had a similar issue with my FSI, turned out that coil packs and plugs were not the cause, it was the clutch, and knock sensor causing the errors. Had the clutch replaced and all was good. Still feels a little under power until you get to 3k then zooom its off!
Cheers,
Iain

Thanks Iain. Given the expence of clutch replacement and that clutch is working fine, I'll give MAF a try first, then back to garage who suggested MAF route if unresolved.

If I remember correctly its an Audi only part. Have you tried running without it plugged in? It will put EML on but if it runs the same then it proves its not working correct. I would also recommend pulling inlet rubber pipe off close to throttle body and have a look to see if the body is oily at all.
Hope this helps. Mike

Thanks Mike, I'll take a look at weekend. Need to find MAF first......

Fuel filter was done with service 3 weeks ago. Problem does not seem so bad while engine is getting to to temp.

I think I'll have to get it to the garage again and take one of the engineers out.

Seems a bit over the top to shoot the engineer for not changing your Fuel filter!
