Hi can any one help,my 1.6fsi will not start when hot.temperature runs at 90 which is normal for my car it fires but just will not pick up you have to leave it for up to 15 mins till it has cooled down a bit, once running it never misses a beat thanx Paul

Welcome from another FSI'er. A scan will, almost certainly, give you a clue, if not the answer. I'll bet there's someone, not far away, who can help.
Long term, consider getting VCDS enabled yourself. Free download, £5 for a cable, and any Windows (XP, 7, 8, or 10) laptop. I use an old HP netbook. No FSI'er should be without it.
Good luck.
Mac.

I'm in Norwich if you're ever over this way. I have full VCDS and very happy to scan your car for you.

I'd echo Mac's recommendation to get VCDS yourself in the longer term.

Hi could you tell me what VCDS is and what cable I need all new to me thanx Paul

Download the official software from:
Buy a blue KKL lead on ebay, about £5.
Don't use the software that may come with the lead, only the downloaded version. Installing can be a bit of a faff, getting the right driver (USB to serial not USB) was my problem. Got the driver from the official MS website.
The free version of VCDS Lite works on pre 2005/06 cars. Reads error codes, resets etc. Full functionality, if/when you need it, costs about £75 (depends on £/$ rate).

Paul, VCDS is software that gives you full access to the onboard diagnostic service for any VAG group vehicle. You can buy the latest version here, it's not cheap though:

Alternatively, you can buy a KKL cable on eBay, as Mac suggested, and download and run the older software he linked to without paying anything - although you do need to pay a registration fee if you want full functionality.

As I said earlier, I have the full VCDS and am in Norwich. I sent you a PM about this, if I can be of any help.

Hi Paul, I just posted the exact same issue for the exact same car. Did you had any luck finding out what is wrong with our cars? Thanks. Pat.
