FSI - Stopped and Does Not Restart, Fuel Supply?

Have a problem with my FSI - on a couple of occasions, the engine died when warm and cruising; the revs just dropped and the engine didn’t respond to the accelerator pedal at all. This happened again and it was difficult to restart; then it wouldn’t restart at all - a scan with VCDS didn’t show any codes related to the engine, so I assumed it was the crank sensor.

The crank sensor has been replaced, but without any luck; the garage is suggesting there’s a fuel supply issue - however, the in-tank pump is virtually new. Is it likely that the high pressure pump could be at fault, and if so, would VCDS identify a fault, aside from checking fuel pressure?

I’d suggest turning the ignition on 10 times to prime the fuel pumps and then try and start. If it starts and cuts out you know it’s a fuel problem if it doesn’t start but turns over could be coil packs or spark plugs :)

I’m sure the FSI’s gods will be here shortly :)

Seems the nearly-new in-tank pump is dead, despite no error codes - very annoying as I can’t find anyone who has just the £20 pump on the shelf, just the whole unit at ten times that.

I’m not with the car - pump is on the bench and not responding to 12V, apparently. Thinking about it, it was slightly audible at idle recently.
