Fuel cap release

Hi, does anyone know what fuse number the fuel release cap button is, it's not shown on the back of the fuse panel cover or user manual. Cheers

Hi,

It is fuse number 36 (See the diagram here Fuse location.pdf)

But it also controls the heated rear screen etc. so if they are all workign then it is not the fuse.

Does your interior light come on when you open the driver's door? If not then the microswitch in the door may be the cause (the fuel flap switch is only powered when the driver's door is opened).

If the fuel flap fails and you get stuck, there is a manual release lever. Inside the boot on the right hand side above the wheel arch is a flap which can be prised open and behind is the lever to release the fuel cap.

Try pressing the central locking button on the driver door handle (Red key symbol) at the same time as pressing the fuel flap release. This works for me too open mine.

I have the same problem as you, I have replaced the fuel flap release button on the B pillar with a new one and the problem persists. I have also bought a new solenoid for the flap but after testing mine on a 12v supply it works fine. Looks like my problem is the drivers door micro switch. It seems they suffer from dry cracked solder on the electric side of the mech due to lead free solder that is so abundant in early 2000's electronics.

The way to test if you microswitch is faulty I believe is to listen out for the central locking cycling, lock, unlock, when you turn the key.
