Fuel filler button, phone/cup holder, soundproofing

I'm slowly putting a few km on my A2 and identifying a few little tweaks which I wouldn't mind undertaking. I've done some searching on the forum and have the armrest issue sussed (purchasing Sydmeko item imminently) but have a few improvements I've not yet got an answer to.

1) It might just be because I'm taller and bulkier than the average bloke, but every time I get in/out of the car I manage to knock the fuel filler cap button so invariably it's open more often than closed. Is there an easy way to protect the button from being knocked so easily (make it more recessed or cover it somehow)?

2) Given the distance beetween windscreen and driver, the usual suction-cup phone holder doesn't seem like a good solution. I read on here that someone did a modification of the cup holders, which looked like a neat solution, if a bit time consuming. Is there a good, easy, low-cost way to make use of the cup holders to provide a robust mobile phone holder? Are these items any good... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universa...var=631883992910&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 ? They look like they'd be a bit too top-heavy for the A2's cup holders, but I may well be wrong. Would be interested to know if anyone has sourced a decent solution recently.

3) Whilst I know the 1.4 TDi is renowned for being a bit on the noisy side, I wondered if anyone had successfully modified the car's insulation at all to dampen the rattle? It seems like something that could be improved upon so keen to hear if anyone has done so.

I've been looking at adding some more sound proofing too - easiest seem to get a bunch of that closed cell sticky foam and add under door trim etc. could probably add something better on bonnet and engine bay too, going from 2001 model to current 2005 (actually seems to be 2004) noise insulation is quite a bit better but still gets fatiguing on long drives.

i wont be tackling it anytime soon though but it seems like a worth while mod, will likely do it along with Bose upgrade when i get around to that.

Just a thought on noise insulation. Has your car lost it's engine undertray? - Andy
