Gearbox. Carn't get into 3rd!

@nod kindly gave me a spare GRJ box to help me with my tdi90 ATL, so I have it still here with me, maybe @nod would lilke it back? Maybe he would offer it it to you? It had 98K on it is that correct @nod? But 2nd gear was bit crunchy? NOt sure i recall correctly. ANyways it could help keep cost down if it was sent for llight refurb and it was just one synchro ring to replace?
 
Hi @CrispyEdd I'm happy for the box to be used by anyone. Just looked at the ad I posted to remind myself...the box is from my tdi90 project car. I've replaced it with a jdd. The box has 136k on it, and had a crunchy 3rd gear , the usual issue with these gearboxes. I drove the car for about 300 miles before swapping out the box. Personally I'd go down the 6 speed route if paying a garage to install and the jdd if doing myself, but this was only based on getting a decent jdd for about £100 in my case.

Hi all, not sure what to do. Spending lots more money on it is a no no. Only plan is to live with it while he needs it everyday for collage and work, he uses it 7 days a week. Come uni time we will have to make a decision whether to scrap or fix it at home, ( if I'm capable) if he is still needing it. Maybe a scrap car will come up locally in a few months with a decent box in.
