Gearbox noise

Hi,

First post since joining so hope it's in the correct section!

I have a clunking/knocking noise when changing gear, I suspect inner cv joint but was curious to see if anyone knew of any common fault.

I have replaced the clutch in the last 1500/2000 miles

Thanks!

Hi,

Start by checking the cheap options first.

Worn bushes in the anti roll bar can sometimes give this symptom, as you change gear the suspension comes off "load" and then back on again, sometimes causing a clunk from the work bushes. Or even possibly the drop links (same reason).

If they are ok (easy enough to determine by sight and or by checking for play) then it could well be worn CV joints.

Is the clunking more obvious at slow speeds, especially when slowing down and changing into first?

Engine mounts are another possibility, but less likely.

Thanks will get it up on the ramp at work tomorrow.
It does seem on more on the passenger side than anything else

It also happens more at low speed both changing up and down

Thanks for advice

I have exactly the same issue. I was told that it could be slack / wear in the diff, but I deffo think its suspension related.

Could well be a suspect dogbone mount. These bushes get a lot of abuse and the rubber in them will be very old and brittle by now. Mine was totally shot.

I have the same problem did anyone have any success in finding out the issue?
So far I have changed the wishbones, anti roll bar busches, track rod ends but none of that has sorted it
