Gearbox speed sensor?

Is there any way to reflash firmware or something to get rid of this sensor? I'm fighting with mine, speedo does crazy dance sometimes and no-one can find where the fault is (I have one original and two new sensors that all behave the same)

The sensor on the gearbox? This is used to feed the speedo and nothing else
If you flashed the firmware to remove the sensor then the speedo would no longer work unless you have the latter abs pump that provides pulse for the speedo from the and sensors

If you have tried multiple sensors (assuming you mean the speedo sensor on the gearbox) and all produce the same result then I would be looking at wiring or instrument cluster not the sensor

Ah, that's a lot of stuff to change
I've went through the wiring and everything seems ok
It's intermittent so I can never catch it in act
Errors were about intermittent bad connection iirc, I've change connector, a part of wire that comes to it and everything is perfect visually
Haven't took my cluster off yet, is gearbox speed sensor connects straight to it?

On a 1.2Tdi, it's used to compare gearbox output speed with engine revs to detect clutch slip. If things aren't as expected, the throttle is disabled.

Throttle works even if speedo does not
But it's all weird, it can't change gears properly and feels like it has a lot more power
Where should I look next?
Thanks

You need a scan with VCDS. What are the exact symptoms?

It could be that the clearance between the output shaft and the sensor is excessive, which means that the sensor doesn't work correctly. If that's the case, a gearbox rebuild is required.

Now it started to give up on the throttle pedal, just as you said
I wasn't there, so I can't tell you how it really went
But when I helped get the car back home -- speedo worked when RPMs were in the higher region (>2k)
If I let off the pedal -- speedometer needle dropped to zero and car lost its power

I think I'll create a thread with all the info now

EDIT: Here it is https://www.a2oc.net/community/index.php?threads/1-2-tdi-speed-sensor-shenanigans.50552/

Thank you
