Gearbox swap 1.4 TDI

Hello,

I was wondering on the viability of swapping my manual gearbox to an auto one?
Due to the wifes health she has difficulties with the clutch now and I'd like to keep the car.

Is it just a case of using the parts from an automatic polo?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dean

That was a short lived idea then :)
Looks like it'll be up for sale soon which is a shame.

Thanks for the advice.

It has actually been done, I have read about it in the german A2 site.
Edit: on second thought, it was probably a 1.4 petrol.

I’m sure it’s possible I would look to something like the 1.6tdi as we know these fit the bell housing but the other work required wouldn’t be a small job

Sorry to hear that dean ...Has no one done an auto box swap for the a2 That does surprise me ...For many years I wondered
I've also wondered about the feasibility of fitting a 1.9tdi engine and gearbox into an A2?

I'm sure it must have been done by someone but would love to know the results

The 1.9 is a different bell housing isn’t it a mq350 and the 1.4 a mq250 and the petrols a mq200
