Is the gaiter below the gearshift straightforward to replace. Mine has been in my A2 since it was built & it is rather tatty now.
I have a new gear knob and gaiter waiting to take its place.

You need to get the metal clip off by separating the overlapping edge. The gearknob will then just pull off.

Fitted mine. A vast improvement, but fiddly for sure. Once you remove the gaiter from the plastic round bracket, reaffix with glue to stop it moving. You will have to snip the top of the gaiter to fit the gearshift then cable tie it off.
You are then finished. Have a cup of tea.

Sweet! Wheres that from?

Do folks fit the TT gearknob

I have fitted a TT gear knob and gator with the ally ring at the bottom
It’s doable but not plug and play by any means
The TT knob is a totally different fitting to the A2 knob
It involved a fair amount of machining and what I thought would be a 30 min job turned into a full day of a job
One problem is the TT knob was longer and I didn’t care for it hence the machining to get it fitted right and the correct length

Hi Paul

What did you machine to make the knob fit correctly? Sounds like it need boring out with a drill to suit looking online?
Did the securing ring simply screw to the A2 plastic trim or did you utilise the plinth with threaded inserts that the TT was produced with?

Got a 5 speed knob on its way to me hopefully with gaiter, chrome ring, plinth and screws.

Cheers

Tom
