Has anyone managed to find any genuine ones that fit in the A2?

Im not keen on the aftermarket LED bulbs as they either have too much blue tint, too bright or dont last long...

Is there descriptions of how to remove the number plate lamps to replace with the new ones on the site ,
Mine are totally finished , my plan is to replace with led,s and fix them with silicon , so as to be able to remove easily should I need to.

It's an involved process owing to the construction - the lights are housed in an outer piece of cladding that can only be removed once you've dismantled the inside of the tailgate!

1) remove tailgate inner cladding panel. (If this hasn't been done before it is a pain as there are 7 or 8 tightly-lodged clips that hold this in place).
2) undo fasteners for the numberplate lights and tailgate release button
3) remove tailgate external cladding panel (number plate surround) that houses the number plate lights.
4) remove old light mountings from panel and replace. Repair the trim clips that break while trying to remove the panel.
5) Refit panel. Refit connectors inside tailgate. Refit tailgate inner trim - preferably after greasing the clips slightly.

As Robin has outlined it is not a five minute job to replace the number plate lights. There is lots of information on here if you search but to give you the idea a video, not in English but that does not matter.

On this subject (I have Mr Silvers to do) will be using the ebay jobbies nice and bright ideal for foggy situations.

The number plate needs to be removed unless you know for sure it has only been stuck on and no screws are present, does anyone know if the rear plates were just stuck on or is this down the supplying dealership and subsequent owners?

It's down to the dealer. I've seen both screw with black or white plastic heads and black double sided tape/foam. The tape is a right pain to remove - I used tar remover. Why not fit the nice club numberplate holders if they are still available in the shop?

If the plates stuck on and no screws are hiding the trim will just pull off complete with plate still attached but I suppose that's the gamble you take

That's exactly what myself and @V666col have fitted to ours, he introduced them to me!

They are bright!!

Just be aware you only get the lenses which have the led incorporated into them so if your screws have snapped in the bases you would need to sort the bases elsewhere, a job I have just done lol
