Hi, I am having some problems with the front electric windows on my 2004 1.4 se......I have searched the forums but cannot find any other query on my problem. On a couple of occasions I have parked and locked the car and when returning to it both front windows have been down a couple of inches.
I need to get to the bottom of this before some wag shoves his cigarette butt through the gap......anyone any ideas. I have had problems with the drivers window going up and down of its own accord when I have tried closing it but a dose of WD40 sprayed into the door cured that for a while.Could moisture be the problem or is a big bill looming.....Cheers Mike

Just one thing as you have walked away could you have pressed the unlock and have it held down ( which would lower the windows) but as you get so far away from the car you run out of reception on the key leaving the windows only part the way down, and as you haven't opened the door it would lock itself but leave windows down ????????, just throwing an idea into the ring

Cheers Phil

Hi Mike,

This happened to me also, turned out to be me pressing the key in my pocket when walking away from the car. And as Phil said, it will lock itself after a few minutes. There is no way round this (as far as I know?), apart from not stuffing your keys in your pocket!

Cheers,

David

If it is the key being inadvertantly pressed that is causing this, I can code the central convenience unit so that this function is disabled.

Cheers

This happened to me at the weekend too, I was rather wierded out by it until I worked out what I'd done.

re ghostly goings on with electric windows

Thanks for all your replies...that is probably what has happened. Thanks again to Skipton for offering help again.......I will keep an eye on what is going on with the key fob.........Doesn't this just show what a great website this is and what a great crowd A2 owners are.:)

Is it possible to change the lowering window function to opening the opensky?

Edd.

No, in a word!

The only way to automatically move the Opensky is to close it by locking the car with the key blade in the door lock and holding it shut. It cannot be automatically opened.

Cheers

Mike
